Intimate Finger Lakes Wedding

The Finger Lakes region of New York state is some of the most beautiful regions in the country. Not only do you have the lakes, but rolling farmlands and pristine forests with hundred year-old evergreens. As we left early that morning to drive up to Sydney & Bill’s wedding, the road trip itself is a mood – people tend to forget how massive and diverse New York State is. Coffee in hand, good music on the radio, and heading through back roads and small towns – it gets you energized for the day ahead.
This was our second time at the Fontainebleu Inn, which isn’t too far from Ithica and Watkins Glen. There were so many great parts of their day. But the one that stands out the most is their ceremony, which was held in a tiny chapel, about a five minute walk from the venue. This historic church, officially called the Lawrence Memorial Chapel was built in 1880 and provided a spiritual, picturesque spot to say their nuptials. Hidden within the lush trees, it occurred to me that there was no better place for Sydney and Bill to say their personalized vows.

And just like the towering trees stand as a testament to endurance and resilience, these lakes embody the depth that comes with true love. Later, all their guests spent the warm summer evening out on the back patio, where the band Screaming Broccoli provided the music. This band was at the bar the night Sydney and Bill had their first date – and with a bit of convincing, they agreed to come up and play at their wedding. We are so happy to have met Syd and Bill. They are genuine people with good hearts. It’s weddings like these which fuel our creativity and cleanse our minds.
